“Can you direct the movement of the stars – binding the cluster of the Pleiades or loosening the cords of Orion? Can you direct the sequence of the seasons or guide the Bear with her cubs across the heavens? Do you know the laws of the universe? Can you use them to regulate the earth?” – Job 38:31-33

Raven’s Nest is a unique blend of ancient astrological wisdom, mindfulness, and spiritual insight utilized to teach and coach others to transform their own inner alchemy to live consciously with the universe and achieve a better quality of life.

From the beginning of our species’ collective awareness of ‘being’ we have questioned our purpose for existence, whether or not there is a consciousness greater than ourselves and, if so, what our possible connection to this Divine power might be. Taken by the forces of nature, we devised that nature itself is evidence of this greater force and over many moons, we have come to learn a great deal about the natural world and, as a result, our function within it. As ages passed, changes in cultural attitudes and our own industrious developments offering more choice and control to determine an individual’s quality of life have changed our relationship with the natural world and/or the greater power behind it. While our perceptions regarding the meaning of it all may have changed and become varied, the desire to understand our interconnection to our external world has remained constant.

Initially, perhaps is was just the simple majesty and wonder of the sky’s dark canopy of stars that inspired us to look up for answers that might explain our Divine birthright. Eventually, that curiosity was followed by thousands of years of calculated evidence that not only revealed a predictable path traveled by celestial bodies but also notated effects of those celestial movements here on earth. We learned that the ‘above’ was mirrored in the events of the ‘below,’ and it has been the proven experiences throughout time that have kept our carefully recorded knowledge of the heavens a much sought after source of enlightenment.

More recently still, we have come to understand that we, ourselves, are a reflection of the universe in that we carry the same materials and energies within. Carl Sagan is perhaps the most notable for raising awareness that the nitrogen, calcium, iron, and carbon we are made of actually comes from the ‘star stuff’ of dematerialized, collapsed stars fallen to earth and reconstituted into the elements that give us life.

To borrow the eloquently appropriate words of William Blake illustrating this macrocosm/microcosm dynamic:

“To see a world in a grain of sand,

And a heaven in a wild flower,

Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,

And eternity in an hour.”

And it was Albert Einstein quoted to have said that everything is plainly energy and by matching the frequency of the reality we want within ourselves, there could be no other outcome but to attract that reality or, put another way, ‘as within, so without.’ With such ideas in mind, it is easy to understand why the inscription, “KNOW THYSELF,” carved above the forecourt of the Delphic Oracle is still so relevant today. For, as Socrates understood, a person cannot truly know anything outside of himself without first coming to know his own true ‘self.’ I would extend the idea further to suggest a person cannot make informed choices for their highest good and therefore make the best use of their individual configuration of these planetary energies – outlining their unique talents and magic – without first coming to understand who they truly are, what they truly need, and all they are truly capable of. A richly integrated, full sense of ‘self’ juxtaposed to external people and situations facilitates crucial insights that will foster the greatest life satisfaction.

astro-alchemist_no borderAstrological life coaching, with an emphasis on the alchemical pursuit of the Great Work, essentially means the result of the inner work is designed to help the seeker transmute the psycho-spiritual ‘lead,’ the primal qualities of one’s self, into ‘gold,’ the achievement of an evolved spiritual self stripped of worthless matter. It is a metaphysical approach that attempts to bridge the gap between the apparent random events of mundane life and put them into a context that explains a sacred significance. It is an exploration of the macrocosm/microcosm dynamic that empowers the seeker to see a personal Divine blue print that shines light on their essential essence and purpose. Like staring into the mastermind of all creation, by watching the cosmic clock we can begin to understand our true natures, learn how to spot and break reoccurring patterns and themes that serve no good, and replace victimized fear with confident self-assertion as we traverse pivotal turning points in our lives. Rather than limiting us with fatality, when used well, astrology actually fosters conscious mindfulnessand works as an effective tool to liberate us from the hamster wheel of unconscious consequence. In a language of timeless archetypes and allegorical mythos, astrology can fortify our free will with knowledge, illuminating our power to choose and change.

The universe, in my view, irrefutably suggests a complex orchestration of intelligent design where the movements of every celestial body within it speaks in a tongue that can be understood by those who have the ears to hear. To quote the late influential  astrologer William Lilly, “Thou talkest with Angels, nay with God himself!” Thus, the wisdom that can be gleaned from the universe is a gift to us to offer guidance along our personal quests and heroes’ journeys. In my view, the universe is the most tangible, visible manifestation of a Creator, whereby, through conscious connection to it, we come to recognize our image is indeed the same. Through the awareness of celestial energies working in us, we come to recognize our own divinity, our own power to co-create our realities, and the truth that each one of us is valued and beautifully woven into the intricate tapestry of life. Finally, we come to profoundly understand that each one of us is a star and it is no less than our Divine birthright to shine!

Abundant blessings, Scarlet Korvina
